Our team have experience in the earth observation market extending back to when we were founded in 2011. We understand how data gets ordered, how data providers operate, how collection, processing and licensing work and how the data gets used in applications.
Focusing on the long term
We work with you and our services to provide you with solutions that scale and evolve with your needs and market capabilities, for example with new satellite missions being added to your virtual constellation, and we look to support you in this journey.
Going beyond engineering
We are unusual in the industry in taking a holistic, rather than purely engineering, approach to earth observation services. We are able to support you in licensing issues, invoicing, procurement models, data provider due diligence and other key supply chain issues that impact on corporate risk and compliance.
Supporting evolution of the Copernicus European Space Programme
The European Space Agency is a key delivery partner for the European Union's space programme, Copernicus. Geocento worked with ESA to help them formulate a design for the evolution of the system that they use for managing access to commercial earth observation data sources, and have since been brought back into the programme to assist further.
Supporting defence and security
Key staff at Geocento were brought in by an international defence organisation to work with them in designing and prototyping a management service for their new virtual earth observation constellation, addressing some of the very particular operational needs demanded by this type of application.
Supporting clients in their obligations to environmental sustainability
Geocento services have been used to assist clients with a wide range of environmental projects, including preservation of wildlife corridors in Africa, advising the iOGP in the aftermath of the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster, illegal deforestation in Malaysia, peatlands protection in Ireland, storm damage to UK commercial forests, fish stock assessment off Canada, forest protection in Sao Tome and coastline protection in relation to port construction in Iraq.
Supporting clients with infrastructure protection and regulatory compliance
Geocento services have helped to protect infrastructure, including flood risk assessment in Toronto, obstacle mapping around airports in India, damage assessment from major emergencies in Beirut, Arizona, Libya and elsewhere, site retail parking usage, remote site access planning in Kalimantan, mine condition assessment and land registration in Africa.
Supporting space industry primes with key technology
Since being founded at the end of 2011, Geocento has been supporting key clients with their user-facing services for discovering, accessing and delivering earth observation, including Kongsberg Satellite Services, e-GEOS, Satellite Applications Catapult and others, along with our sister technology company Taitus Software Italia.
Supporting national civil resilience
Working through a national prime, Geocento are supporting a European country’s national geoinformation strategy, providing public authorities and contractors with access to commercial earth observation products and services.

Our Technology
The core of our technology is our pioneering EarthImages technology, which was used for more than a decade in supporting end-to-end discovery, ordering and purchasing of satellite imagery for clients across 65 countries, with API connections to the vast majority of commercial (and non-commercial) data providers. This powerful technology has since been augmented with specialised virtual constellation management tools including product harmonisation, through our partnership with NV5, and a digital twin of the global earth observation constellation from our sister company, Taitus Software. Together, EarthImages and these specialised virtual constellation management tools are now available under new branding as our Pyxis and Lyra constellations.
